BOSTON, Mass. - October 26, 2007 - "Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street" has been given something of a trim. The 1979 Stephen Sondheim-Hugh Wheeler musical with Angela Lansbury and Len Cariou, had a huge cast and orchestra.
The new version, in which ten actors play all the parts -- and all the instruments -- won two Tony Awards in 2006.
It has just opened at the Colonial Theatre in Boston, where "Morning Edition" critic at large Ed Siegel caught the show.
