Apple iTunes is great for downloading podcasts. Podcasting is the newest way to share audio broadcasts via the internet. Contrary to its name, you do not need an Apple iPod (or any portable mp3 player for that matter). What you do need is a computer, an internet connection, and a software program that will download all your new podcasts. Click on any of the podcast links below to subscribe to a podcast. See the bottom of the page for some helpful tips on gettings started.

Podcasting Basics
What software do I need?
Technically, you do not need software to listen to a podcasts. There are already a few sites out there that let you listen to podcasts by streaming them right on the website. But assuming you want to download the podcast mp3 to a personal mp3 device or to your desktop, you will need software. There are many out there. Here's a brief list of software clients available for Windows and/or Mac OSX: Each software application is different. The basic instruction is to COPY/PASTE the podcast link into your podcast software.

Try one or more of the above to find one you like. Read the documentation for the player you've chosen. We will not be able to answer any questions related to your own podcasting endeavors. We will only answer questions related to problems with our podcasts or podcast feeds.

One Click:
If available in iTunes or Odeo etc, we have provided "one click" subscription links next to each podcast. Simply click on that button to subscribe to that particular podcast. As these are 3rd party services, certain "one click" link make not be available and/or working at the moment.

How to manually subscribe to a podcast using iTunes:
Copy and paste the URL for the rss feed (looks like http://www.wbur.org/listen/podcasts/onpoint.xml) into iTunes. In iTunes, go to Advanced > Subscribe to podcast and paste the podcast URL into the popup window. The podcast should automatically appear in iTunes podcast section and download the lastest podcast entry for that subscription.
