Shannon Mullen

WBUR News

Shannon started her radio reporting career at New Hampshire Public Radio, covering the state's White Mountains and Lakes regions. She went on to report on the activities of the NH Congressional Delegation as a Washington Correspondent, while working as an intern at NPR's Talk of the Nation.

Shannon joined the News Department at WBUR in 2004, and now works as a reporter and producer.

In 2006, she was a Visiting Producer/Reporter Fellow on American Public Media's national magazine program "Weekend America" in Los Angeles. In the spring of 2007, she traveled to Montana for an Environment Reporting fellowship through the Institutes for Journalism and Natural Resources.

In addition to her contributions to WBUR's local news coverage, Shannon also regularly files national stories from around the New England region.

Before venturing into public radio, Shannon received her BS in Pre-Veterinary Medicine at the University of New Hampshire, and her MS in Broadcast Journalism from Boston University.

Between degrees, she worked as a chef aboard the 81 foot, 1929 classic motoryacht "Belle" based in Newport, RI, where she also wrote for the local newspaper and coached a youth lacrosse team.
