Three George Foster Peabody Broadcasting Awards, the premiere awards for quality and achievement in radio and television.

Four "Major Armstrong" Awards, the most prestigious awards given to FM broadcasters.

79 awards for excellence in news and public affairs from the Associated Press and United Press International, including the 1999 "News Station of the Year" Award from the New England Associated Press.

More than 50 awards from other organizations, recognizing achievement in the coverage of law, the reporting of medical issues, cultural understanding, women's issues, investigative reporting, and radio production

In September 1996, WBUR won the FLO award for Best Station of the Year from the Public Radio Program Director's Association. This marked the 2nd time in 3 years that WBUR won this award.

In October 1996, WBUR received 6 awards, including 3 first place awards from the Massachusetts Broadcasters Association.
